What is this badge about?
Explore how laws are made, what an Active Citizen is, explore local or state government meetings, and role play government involvement OR raise awareness about an issue.

Our Summary* of requirements:
- Learn what an Active Citizen is (make a list of 10 things, ask 3 members of the community, OR talk to someone who has lived in another country).
- Learn about local (city/town/county) OR state government (tour city/town/county/state branch, interview an elected official, OR make a chart of school/town/county/state government structure).
- Learn how laws are made and do an activity around laws (Mock vote on a law, review 3 laws, list daily laws, OR think of laws you would propose based on 3 different scenarios).
- Learn about government meetings (attend a meeting of town/city council/board of education/county commissioner, collect news articles for 1 week and write opinion letter to the editor, OR interview a local historian/longtime citizen).
- Role play how to be involved in government (plan a campaign to run for an office OR work on someone else’s campaign) OR raise awareness about an issue you’d like to see changed (pamphlet/poster you have permission to handout or post).
