What is this badge about?

Explore expenses, credit cards, personal loans, and credit scores, and create a personal financial statement.

Our Summary* of requirements:

  1. Explore the concept of expenses and learn how they impact daily life and future goals in one activity (track expenses using 50-30-20 plan, identify fixed and variable expenses at home or in the troop, OR use a cost-of-living calculator to compare different expenses).
  2. Learn how credit cards work and explore their benefits and responsibilities (compare pros and cons, research options, OR talk to a financial advisor).
  3. Learn about personal loans and how they work, including their benefits and risks (review a loan agreement with a loan expert, talk to a loan officer about home purchases, OR research predatory lending).
  4. Understand how credit scores and histories are built, and explore what impacts them positively or negatively (FICO scale, how to clean up credit, OR debt consolidation).
  5. Create a personal financial statement to outline your understanding of financial responsibility and inspire good habits for long-term success after doing one activity (research budget and credit tips online, talk to a financial advisor, OR discuss as a troop).
