Discover how local, state, and federal government works and explore the three branches of government.

Our Summary* of requirements:
- Learn about local government and local elections (visit town/city hall, mayor’s office, talk to local government official, OR attend a city/town hall meeting when a vote will be held – VOTE if you are old enough to).
- Learn how your state government is structured AND how it compares to the federal government, OR research two sides of an issue from a recent/upcoming election AND debate each side, OR tour your state capitol building.
- Write a letter to your state representative/federal senator about an issue you care about, OR research gerrymandering and some of the solutions proposed, OR visit Washington D.C. to meet your federal representative.
- Encourage people to vote in the next presidential election (create a poster, make a voting reminder calendar, OR use a sample ballot from a recent election to show voting stats), Research three different political parties to see which one aligns with your personal values, OR research lobbying and lobbyists roles in the most recent presidential election.
- Research on Supreme Court Justice (from history) AND answer the questions from the GSUSA booklet, OR research and hold a mock trial, OR attend a session in court.
