Basic Meeting Plans are designed to have minimal supplies and still hit the GSUSA Requirements. Most meetings can be done in a 90 minute time frame.
Items Needed:
- Printout of Basic Computer Parts
- Clear cup and a small creature (stuffed animal, figurine, or puff ball/cotton ball) for each scout or each small group of scouts
- Box of random supplies that include paper, cardboard (old cereal boxes work well), lids, pipe cleaners, anything you have laying around the house that might be useful for the activity.
- Scissors and tape for scouts or small groups to use.
- VTK Computer Connect by GSUSA (one for each scout)
- (Optional Fun Activity for Networks) 1 Strings/Yarn approx. 2 feet in length for each scout to play Computers Connect
- (Optional Fun Activity for Networks) 1 Strings/Yarn approx. 4 feet in length for each scout to play Computers Connect

Meeting Start
Always plan for 5-10 minutes to allow scouts to arrive and your troop’s opening routines.

Fun Activity: Moving Computer Parts
Time Expected*: 15 minutes
- Note to Leaders – You can learn more about Parts of a Computer and opt to do a memory game instead of the movement game.
Activity 2 – Protection
(Requirement 2 Earned)
Fun Activity: Kids Can Protect
Time Expected*: 30 minutes
- Note to Leaders – You can opt to use the Craft: Protect Your Treasure activity instead.
Activity 3 – Networks
(Requirement 3 Earned – Fun Activity optional)
Action Needed: Computer Connections
(Optional) Fun Activity: Computers Connect
Time Expected*: 5 minutes, 15 minutes with Optional Fun Activity
Meeting End
Always plan for 5-10 minutes for clean up and Closing Routines
Scouts can keep making new shapes in the Computers Connect activity until it’s time to go home.

General Notes
- The Basic Plans from The Badge Archive are designed to earn one official GSUSA badge per level per meeting to remain budget-friendly.
- Some badges require two meetings to complete. This allows scouts to fully enjoy the activities while keeping costs low by only needing one GSUSA badge for every two meetings.
- For troops that wish to give scouts a badge or patch for every meeting, a fun patch can be awarded during one of the two sessions. Scouts attending only one meeting can earn the fun patch, while those attending both will receive both the fun patch and the GSUSA badge.

- Troops may take more or less time depending on their scouts’ abilities and interests. Plan your meetings accordingly to suit your troop’s unique needs.
