2011 – D/B/J Craft and Tinker – Activity List

Lists of activities are in no specific order, but the easier ones are listed near the top and the harder ones for Juniors would be found near the bottom of the lists. Make sure you hit an activity in each of the 4 areas:

Activity Ideas (listed under each requirement)

Activity #1: Search or Research Crafts

Daisy: Search for inventions or tools (place, around you, or a person who makes them). Brownie: Search for inventions (place, around you, online, or a person who makes them). Junior: Research (talk to a crafter, research, OR try one out) and pick out which craft (pottery, jewelry, textiles, OR baskets) to do.

Choose one activity:

Activity #2: Make Projects

Craft and Tinker was designed for any creative activity that requires specialized tools, whether simple or complex. In this badge, for all three levels, it’s more of finding out which craft you want to use, then finding the appropriate projects that fit your level.

Daisies require 1 project; Brownies and Juniors require 2 projects.

Activity #3: Brainstorm Tweaks

  • Daisy: Alter one of the crafts you made (change it one way, add a new feature).; Brownie: Alter one of the crafts you made (theme it, personalize it, add a new feature),; Junior: Reflect on a project you made and brainstorm a tinker (how to simplify if you made it again OR sketch a change for a user specific request/adding a new feature or function).

You do not need to re-make the craft – simply come up with ideas that fit one of these categories:

  • Change it in One Way
  • Add a New Feature
  • Theme It
  • Personalize It for a Gift
  • Streamline Production
  • Test It and Improve Design
