Considering a 2 hour meeting to allow more time.
Some troops may want to break it up and do two meetings.
This plan will earn an official badge in 4 different levels: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette

Meeting Start
Always plan for 5-10 minutes to allow scouts to arrive and your troop’s opening routines.
Time Expected*:
5 minutes
Activity 1 – Look at Art
(D/B/J/C Req 1 Earned)
Time Expected*:
10 minutes
Comparing Comics – Scouts compare older and modern comics to explore how humor, characters, and storytelling have changed over time.
Activity 2 – Shapes
(B/J/C Req 3 Earned)
Time Expected*:
15 minutes
Use the Circle Drawing in the How-To Characters activity to explore the Art Element of Shape – Scouts use a how-to guide to draw simple characters and explore their personal drawing style.
Activity 3 – Comic Fun
(B Req 2, J Req 4, and C Req 2 Earned)
Time Expected*:
20 minutes
Progressive Comic Art – Scouts take turns adding panels to each other’s comics in a group drawing game.
BUT skip sharing work at the end of the activity. Wait to display it in the final activity.
AND use pencils for this step to explore one medium to earn part of D Req 2.
AND add a challenge to use lines and shading in the art work to meet B Req 2 & J Req 4.
Activity 4 – Make Comics
(D Req 2 & 3, B Req 4, J Req 3, and C Req 4 & 5 Earned)
Time Expected*:
20 minutes
Use the Mirror Expressions activity – Scouts observe and sketch facial expressions, then use them to create a four-panel comic strip that tells a story without words.
AND add words to the 4 panel comic they made to also meet C Req 5 (Like the Choose Comic Words activity).
AND use pen or markers for the final work (they can sketch in pencil and then write over it in ink) to explore a second medium for the final part of D Req 2.
Activity 5 – Share It
(B/J Req 5 Earned)
Time Expected*:
10 minutes
Mini Art Gallery – Scouts display their finished artwork in a mini gallery for others to view and enjoy.
If you have extra time: Scouts can look at each other’s comics until it’s time to go home.
Meeting End
Always plan for 5-10 minutes for clean up and Closing Routines
Time Expected*:
5 minutes
Total Time Expected*: 90 minutes
