Meeting One Outline

Gathering Activity
Gathering Activities (sometimes called Sponge Activities) are low-prep, engaging tasks given to youth immediately upon arrival.

Time Expected*:
10 minutes

Clay Art: Cookies About Me – Youths mold clay into cookie shapes and imprint designs that represent something about themselves.

Meeting Start
Always plan for 5-10 minutes to allow scouts to arrive and your troop’s opening routines.

Time Expected*:
5 minutes

Activity 1 – Step 1
(Requirement 2 Earned)

Time Expected*:
20 minutes

OPTION A:
Mascot Goal Posters – Youths set a troop cookie goal and draw the GSUSA mascot to show how cookie money will be used.

OPTION B:
Three Category Goal Brainstorm – Youths brainstorm ideas for how to use cookie money based on three categories and vote on their favorite troop goals.

Activity 2 – Step 2
(Requirement 2 Earned)

Time Expected*:
20 minutes

OPTION A:
Basic Group Goal Tracker – Youths create and decorate a troop goal tracker to show progress toward their cookie package goal.

OPTION B:
G.S. Cookies – Online Sales Tracking – Youths set their cookie sales goal in the Digital Cookie® or Smart Cookies® site.

Meeting End
Always plan for 5-10 minutes for clean up and Closing Routines

Simple Video – Youths practice and record a video sales pitch about Girl Scout Cookies.
