Meeting One Outline
Gathering Activity
Gathering Activities (sometimes called Sponge Activities) are low-prep, engaging tasks given to youth immediately upon arrival.
Time Expected*:
10 minutes
OPTION A:
Would You Rather Eat? – Youths play a simple “Would You Rather” game using cookie flavors and dice to compare different cookie amounts.
OPTION B:
Cookie Would You Rather? – Youths play a “Would You Rather” game to explore choices related to cookie season and troop activities.
Meeting Start
Always plan for 5-10 minutes to allow scouts to arrive and your troop’s opening routines.

Activity 1 – Step 1

OPTION A:
Cookie Flashcards – Youth make flash cards to learn cookie names, descriptions, and prices.
OPTION B:
Cookie Necklace – Youth create a cookie necklace by cutting out cookie images and labeling cookie facts.
OPTION C:
Practice Online Sales – Youths explore the online cookie buying experience and practice making change with play money.
Activity 2 – Step 2

30 minutes
OPTION A:
Donation Poster – Youth make a donation poster to show how they will use cookie money to give back to the community.
OPTION B:
Giving Back Goal – Youth decide how to give back with their cookie money by voting on a community idea and setting a goal.
OPTION C:
Goals in a Bottle – Youth make “goals in a bottle” to track their goal with cookie money.

OPTION A:
Practice Cookie Booth – Youths practice setting up a booth, handling money, and making change at the pretend cookie booth.
OPTION B:
Sales Chart – Youth design a chart to track their cookie sales progress.
OPTION C:
Online Sales Tracking – Youths set their cookie sales goal in the Digital Cookie® or Smart Cookies® site.
Activity 5 – Step 5

Time Expected*:
30 minutes
OPTION A:
Cookie Songs – Youth create their own cookie‑themed song to share with the option of turning them into a marketing campaign.
OPTION B:
Make a Cookie Costume – Youth create cookie costumes from sturdy cardboard to wear themselves or to dress up stuffed animals.
OPTION C:
Theme a Booth – Youth design and create decorations for their cookie booth using a chosen theme.
