2011 Cadette – LiA Badge Placement

On the GSUSA Uniform Guide, LiA badges are shown at #26. However, LiA badges can go where #21, #22, or #26 is stated on the GSUSA Uniform Guide.

Leadership in Action (LiA) badges are designed to go with the associated Journey Set. Most scouts will put their LiA award with the Cadette Journey Set it was designed with if the scout also has the Journey Set. You do not need to earn the Cadette level Journey to earn the LiA of a Brownie Journey Set you did instead. LiA badges can be placed anywhere on the left side of the vest on their own without a Journey Set, or in a row at the bottom of the left side as the GSUSA Uniform Guide shows.

For example: If you earned the Breathe Journey Set and also earned the LiA for doing the Brownie WoW Journey, they can be placed together in a full diamond, or the LiA can be placed seperately. If you earned the MEdia Journey Set but earned the Lia for doing the Brownie WoW Journey, the LiA would be placed on it’s own without an associated Journey set.

Sashes

Badges and pins on the front of a sash simply go in order (top of sash to bottom of sash) of Identification badges, bridging badge, pins, journeys, and other badges. The award badges are considered part of the “other badges”.

Anything that does not fit on the front can be placed on the back of the sash, official badges included. Fun Patches are traditionally placed on the back of the uniform, but sashes will not hold a lot of badges and official badges are often needed to be placed on the back.

Vests are recommended if you plan to earn a lot of badges, but you can opt to place fun patches on a tote/bag, jacket, or blanket and leave the entire sash open for only official badges.

Future Senior and Ambassador Badges

If you plan to use the same tan vest for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador levels – be aware that the Cadette badges go below the Senior and Ambassador badges. Place the Cadette badges on the bottom hem line of the vest and work upwards as you age through the levels. The Ambassador level badges will be on the top row.

Helpful Resource: GS Leader Resources has worked out the best way to maximize badge placement on uniform vests.
