Algorithm Basics with Grace Hopper
(Requirements 1 and 4 Earned)
Action Needed: Grace Hopper Timeline Cards
Time Expected*: 25 minutes
Event Basics
(Requirements 3 and 5 Earned)
Action Needed: Morning Routine Events
Time Expected*: 20 minutes
Marching Loops
(Requirement 2 Earned)
Info Needed: A computer needs very specific instructions for each action. For example, if you need to make 12 sandwiches, you would have to repeat the same steps 12 times. This can be time-consuming and tedious. Programmers use loops to save time. Instead of writing the sandwich instructions 12 times, they write it once and label it “makesandwich.” Then, they write a line of code to repeat the “makesandwich” instructions 12 times. This makes the process more efficient and reduces errors. By using loops, programmers can simplify their code and make it easier to read.
Action Needed: Follow the instructions on Marching Loops
Time Expected*: 40 minutes
Meeting End
Scouts can keep having fun making new marching routines to loop and practice until it’s time to go home.
