Items Needed:
- Paper
- Pencils or pens
- (Optional) Computers, smartphones, or tablets for digital journaling
- (Optional) Supplies or setup for the physical activity previously voted on by scouts
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 30–40 min):
- Reflect and record current mood. (Estimated Time: 5 min)
- Scouts briefly write down how they feel at the start.
- Include emotions, energy level, or anything they notice physically (e.g., tired, tense, alert).
- Complete a physical activity that boosts energy. (Estimated Time: 20–25 min)
- Scouts do the group’s chosen activity that involves vigorous movement.
- This can include dancing, hiking, circuits, sports, or any active choice.
- Movement should be continuous and adjusted to comfort level.
- Reflect on mood after movement. (Estimated Time: 5–7 min)
- Scouts journal a second time.
- Compare how they feel now versus earlier.
- Note any shifts in mood, energy, or thoughts.
- (Optional) Share and explore next steps. (Estimated Time: 2–3 min)
- Scouts may write down one movement activity they’d like to try on their own later.
