Info Needed for the badge requirements: Cybersecurity helps protect digital devices, like phones and computers, from harmful attacks. Professionals use 10 key principles, called First Principles, to keep networks safe. Scouts can apply these same principles to protect their own devices.

Items Needed

• Printed and cut First Principle Cards (one card per group).
  • 10 Principles (Full Color Cards) by UHMC
  • First Principle Cards (Simplified Definitions) by GSUSA
• If there are fewer than 10 scouts, give each group multiple cards.

Instructions

1. Divide scouts into pairs or small groups. Each group reads their assigned card(s) and talks about the principle(s) listed.
   • If there are more than 10 scouts, form 10 groups and give each group one card.
   • If fewer than 10, distribute multiple cards to each group.
2. After group discussions, have each group share their assigned principle(s) with the entire troop, explaining what they learned and any insights.
