2001 – Camp Together
See 2001 Junior Girl Scout Badge Book manual for complete requirements. This list only gives a general idea of what would be required.
Complete 6 of the following 10 options:

  • Plan group camping trip for at least two nights. Create budge for trip. Plan meals, packing list, and how to get there.
  • Do all 4 items: Recognize the hazards listed. Know and use buddy system. Establish ‘lost plan’. Review fire and evacuation plans posted at site and learn what you should do and practice an evacuation.
  • Learn about “Leave No Trace” and how poor camping effects campsite and environment. Show what you learned about 3 things from list. Explain or show how you can prevent each of those 3.
  • Make packing list. Make sure dress is appropriate. Help pack and carry equipment and supplies.
  • Plan meals. Plan for any health or religious needs regarding food. Cook 1 meal over fire or using solar oven. Decide on nutritious foods you can bring when doing outdoor activities. Learn how to clean up and dispose of garbage.
  • Learn 1 out door skill from list.
  • Make schedule. Make kaper chart.
  • Plan outdoor activity to learn about natural surroundings through observation.
  • Do 1 of the 3 items from list after discussing nighttime safety.
  • With group, talk about how trip went and what you would do differently after trip.

1990 – Troop Camper

Complete these 3 items:

  • With troop, plan and carry out a camp out for 2 nights. Make sure you know all things in this list.
  • List disturbances to the environment that might be caused by your planned activities. Discuss how to change activity to lessen impact. Make all changes to keep to “Walk Softly” [“Leave No Trace”].
  • After trip, make list of camp trips to share with new campers and to help you next time. What did you discover about yourself and the outdoors? What do you hope to do when you go camping again?

Complete 5 of the following 10 options:

  • Plan meals. At least 1 meal requires cooking. With troop, help with all things on this list. Demonstrate knowledge of environmentally sound sanitation practices.
  • Make packing list, one for individuals, one for the troop supplies. Help pack and carry equipment and supplies or Make something to use at camp such as items on this list.
  • Discuss what you and group will do in emergencies. Review fire and evacuation plans posted at site and learn what you should do and practice an evacuation.
  • Recognize the hazards listed and decide how to protect yourself or Demonstrate to group what to do if you get lost and how to prevent it.
  • Make schedule. Make kaper chart.
  • Make or take 1 or more resources from list to help you find your way to make discoveries and record what you discover at camp.
  • With buddy or group, be responsible for one of the following activities or Lead a tour or hike to locate points of interest or boundaries of camp site.
  • Learn 1 skill to use at future camping events from list.
  • Leave site in good condition by doing items on this list.
  • While on your camping trip, have someone who has been to resident camp share her experience with you. Discuss differences between resident camp and troop camping.

  • Help plan scheduled for camp out.
  • Help check troop first aid kit. What emergencies could occur and how do we handle them?
  • Help settle in at site. When leaving, help put site in good condition.
  • With troop, talk about how trip went and what you would do differently after trip.
