- List your skills and talents. Talk to neighbors to get ideas of products and services they need. List businesses your skills would meet the community’s needs.
- Talk to a successful female business owner and ask these questions.
- With troop, debate advantages and disadvantages of working for yourself.
- What business could you start now? Answer questions from list and make a business plan. Share plan with adult.
- Talk to friend interested in starting a business with you. Create guidelines to help guarantee a successful working relationship. “Communicate” should be at the top of the list.
- Interview someone who owns a business and ask specific questions on cost and profit.
- Create an advertising campaign. Answer these questions.
- Choose a scenario from list to demonstrate how you present yourself and your product to customers. Prepare a presentation for about your product or service.
- Take part in running a business according to your business plan for at least 1 month.

- Review magazines devoted to business. Find some written for women or people who own their own businesses. Make a list of magazines you would subscribe to if you had your own business.
